BBC Radio Manchester's Mike Minay praised Pep Guardiola's substitutions for the comeback victory over RB Leipzig: "Manchester City two-nil down at half-time, they were poor and abject. But they got their act together, influenced by the substitutes Nathan Ake, Jeremy Doku and the matchwinner Julian Alvarez. Also Erling Haaland and Phil Foden to thank.

"On a night where City have remembered three heroes, maybe not a performance to be proud of, but certainly a comeback they can smile about."

Former City youth coach Steve Eyre added: "Ake was starting the attacks at the back and was so clean with his passes, so assured and allowing us to build a platform going through the middle of the pitch and onto the front line.

"Leipzig tired and tried to make substitutions to keep energy in their game, but we were just too good. I’ve said Ake was great, Alvarez was great, Phil Foden was just quite good for 75 minutes, but was magical from 75 to 90.

"Rico Lewis was excellent for the last 15 minutes, but my best compliment has got to go to Doku, who keeps amazing us with his talent and his speed. The way he took the ball and took the game to Leipzig really helped us get back into the game once, twice and for the third goal we won the game."
