Mike Taylor, BBC WM reporter at Villa Park for BBC Radio 5 Live:

"Inside the ground was peaceful, but we had this odd atmosphere with a big gap where the away fans should have been because they were never allowed in.

"The events that had concerned everybody and that police were referring to were outside the ground, where the Legia fans were gathered.

"I understand they were grouped together in what is usually the away coaches' park, opposite the stadium.

"There had been some suggestion in the build-up that there would be more Legia fans than there were tickets.

"Legia's allocation of tickets had been reduced after problems involving their fans at a previous game earlier in the competition. So it was reported in advance there would be more fans than those with tickets.

"It was in that area, where they were gathered outside the ground, that the trouble appears to have started. At that point, it would seem the authorities and the police, rather than Aston Villa, took the decision that those fans shouldn't be admitted at all."
