Sheff United 1-2 Man United: Analysis

There are some days, when only the result counts.

This, after a dismal start to the season and coming on the day of Sir Bobby Charlton's passing, this was one of them.

United are still in touch with the top four. They head into next weekend's Manchester derby on the back of successive Premier League wins.

But Erik ten Hag will know his side need to do better than this.

There was a plan, centred around Sofyan Amrabat sitting deep and defenders starting attacks. But too often, United went backwards or to the side, rather than forward.

It tended not to happen until Bruno Fernandes got on the ball but Ten Hag needs the Portuguese higher up the pitch.

A win is a win. Next week will tell us much more about where Manchester United really are.
