After Newcastle United secured a stunning Champions League win against Paris St-Germain, BBC Radio Newcastle's John Anderson told the Total Sport Newcastle Podcast that Eddie Howe's side thoroughly deserved the victory: "The score doesn't flatter them [Newcastle] because over the course of the 90 odd minutes, they were the better side by a long, long way.
"To a man, they were brilliant. From the first whistle to the final whistle every one of them in black and white were absolutely superb. The manager [Eddie Howe] will be absolutely delighted with that performance, he couldn't have asked any more of his players.
"The game plan was followed to perfection. Paris St-Germain's top players never got a kick. The job that we did on them was absolutely magnificent. He'll go home very, very proud.
"He'll reflect on it and probably pick one or two faults as he does but overall it was just magnificent, you couldn't have dreamed of better. Two up at half-time then the [Sean] Longstaff goal really put the sheen on it. The [Fabian] Schar goal is ridiculous. It was an unbelievable strike. As I say, to a man they were absolutely magnificent."
Asked where this ranks in terms of special nights for Newcastle at St James' Park, former Newcastle assistant manager John Carver added: "I think it's at the top, I have to be honest. I'd rather be down there but sitting here watching the game, when Newcastle had the ball they did quite well with it so it's a great night, a great night for Geordies by the way.
"The two guys [Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff] getting the goals which is fantastic, things that you dream about. But everybody has gone home with a big smile on their face. And you know what, it's just what we deserve."
