Palermo midfielder Liam Henderson discussed the impact Neil Lennon and Celtic had on him when growing up.

Henderson was handed his Celtic debut aged 17 when he came on as a substitute in their 5-0 win against Motherwell.

“When I was coming through there was a team full of internationals and they were really strong in midfield. So, to get an opportunity to play for Celtic at that time, being so young, was amazing,” he told the Official Celtic FC Podcast, external.

“Obviously, I’ll forever be indebted to Neil Lennon. He gave me my opportunity, he made me a professional footballer, if I can say it like that.

“I’ll forever be indebted to him and Gary Parker and Johan Mjallby, along with Danny McGrain who was in the coaching staff then.

“They were brilliant with me, they helped me improve as a 17-year-old boy and made me into a man, I’ll forever be indebted to that coaching staff, along with the boys that played in the team as well that I looked up to.

“Broony, Joe Ledley, Adam Matthews, Jamesy, who’s still there, they took me under their wing and I’ll forever be grateful.”
