Burnley 1-4 Chelsea: What Kompany said

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Games nowadays are 95-97 minutes, so you've just got to be good for all of it. I think today we had a solid first half but, with the goal we conceded in the first half and then gifting the penalty away, it's just a very bad start to the second half. Then that creates difficult problems to solve when you play against a team with good players.

"[At half-time] I think you want to refocus and put yourself back to the task, but it's a game filled with decisions. It's not the first time we go to ground in one of the recent games and it just makes it. In this league, those details matter. We know we are working on this, but today it has hurt us.

"There's no quicker way to learn than to be out there [on the pitch] and to face the consequences. When you face the consequences, you know for next time. The main thing for us is we know there's a gap in terms of talent at the disposal of these type of teams.

"But if you don't concede like we did against Manchester United and you're in games, you're going to get your results in these games eventually. Today, what looked to be a good start didn't materialise and that's on us as a team, as a squad.

"The game is never gone and I always think that our players, whether it's in the first half or at the end of the game, they know that they can cause their own problems. They can cause problems to every opponent, but it's not just about that. I think the game is about every single phase, every single moment, so many key moments, and you've got to be good throughout the game, with a little bit of luck when you play against these types of teams, to get the result. OK if it's not today, it will be at some point."
