We asked for your thoughts on Sunday's game between Chelsea and Brighton.

Here are some of your comments:

Chelsea fans

Oliver: Finally, and what a relief it is! First win at home since August and I could not be more pleased for the lads. Brilliant defence in the second half, in particular from Thiago Silva who made up for his poor performance last week. One problem though - that was the second game in a row our captain has been sent off. Overall, we dug in and got the win we deserved.

Fossie: Got away with one there! A fortunate win and some stout defending, especially when down to 10 men. Gallagher, and others, have to show better discipline. He was a bit naive picking up that second yellow card. We've got to do better though, better teams will find us out in the same circumstances.

Andy: I had no idea what to expect in this game and was proven right! I was expecting the worst when Conor Gallagher was red carded, but somehow they hung on. It’s never boring when Chelsea play and not good for my poor old blood pressure.

Darren: The usual huffing and puffing from us. We need a player like Eden Hazard or Gianfranco Zola to give us that edge in the final third of the pitch. I thought the defensive resilience and stubbornness we showed in the latter part of the game was encouraging, but still a million miles away from being a top four side.

Brighton fans

Marc: Brighton put in a spirited performance, but against 12 men (if you include the VAR official who gave a dodgy penalty against Brighton and then dismissed one given to them) it was always going to be a difficult match.

Sam: VAR and inept officials are ruining the game! Forget what they want to change - walk before running, people. I’m sure Howard will be on the blower apologising again, but nothing changes. A point would have been fair. I do think we look more dynamic with pace going forward, but we got into the final third and weren’t sure what to do too often.

Mick: We gave them two set-piece goals and weren't at the races early on. We missed our captain's steadying influence. After Facundo Buonanotte's brilliant goal and the sending off, it was all us. Kaoru Mitoma looks back on song and Joao Pedro gets better every game.

Alan: Should have been 2-2. When will referees have the bottle to stick with their on-field decision rather than feel like they have to change their decision just because VAR tells them too?
