'Players have responded brilliantly' - Rodgers

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says his side will not dwell on Tuesday's Champions League defeat to Lazio, and are ready to show their "quality and mentality" when they host Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Kilmarnock beat Celtic 1-0 in the Viaplay Cup earlier this season, but Rodgers insists that Celtic are a "different team" now.

“For 24 hours you’re disappointed," he said, reflecting on the Lazio game. "We looked like we were going to get something from the game and win the game but it didn’t happen.

“This is football, when you’re at a big club, playing lots of games, you have to analyse and move on after 24 hours and that’s the strength of this group.

“We’ve had one or two upsets in the early part of this season but the players have responded brilliantly and will get going again, they’ll recover and be ready to go again with a big attitude and energy in the game.

“The players that we have are working very hard and will be ready to show our quality and mentality.

“We’re a different team with a different mentality from that time [when Celtic lost against Kilmarnock in the cup].

"Lots of new players were bedding in at that time but Kilmarnock deserved to win it, we’ve learnt from that and moved on. Now we have to show that ruthless and relentless mentality to get the three points at the weekend.”
