Managerial sackings in Scotland a 'disgrace' - Kettlewell

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell says it’s “a disgrace” that he is the fourth longest-serving manager in the Scottish Premiership.

Only David Martindale, Derek McInnes and Stephen Robinson have been in charge at their clubs longer than Kettlewell, who believes youth development is hindered by the routine sacking of managers.

“The fact that I’m the fourth longest serving manager in this division and I’ve only been in the post since February is a disgrace,” Kettlewell said.

“I stand by that, I don’t think that’s right, I don’t think that’s conducive to any kind of development whatsoever.

“You have a plan and a structure in place at a football club, you want to develop young talent and try and build a way moving forward for football clubs but you’re never going to do it in that space of time.

“But it’s not my place to decide who stays and who goes, it’s never going to be. But I will say I sat down with a couple of the guys from the SFA, and they’re doing their rounds at this minute in time and trying to fact find on why our numbers are so low with young lads that are 16 to 20 years old making first team appearances, and that’s the answer to it.”
