Match of the Day 2 pundit Jermaine Jenas believe Manchester City were "brilliant" in their handling of a controversial referee decision at the end of their draw against Tottenham.

Criticism arose after City were denied the opportunity to play an advantage in the final moments of the game, with Jack Grealish running through on goal.

Jenas said: "I think the response from Guardiola and the players has been brilliant. I think it’s an absolute shocker I really do.

"The amount of times we see play developing when passes are being played through and they’re clearly offside and they allow the play to develop because they want the official to put up the flag.

"So in this scenario why is that element of letting the game breathe not there? In one of the most vital of moments to be making that decision. I’m not sure what Simon Hooper was thinking.

"It’s clearly a mistake but it’s a monster of a mistake in my opinion."
