Barry Robson believes Aberdeen's experience on the continental stage this season will stand his new look squad in good stead going forward.

Robson oversaw a huge overhaul of players in the summer, with big numbers moving both in and out of the club.

The Dons have taken two points from their opening four Europa Conference League group games and neither they nor Thursday's hosts HJK Helsinki can progress to the next round.

"The first game against Helsinki I thought we were really, really good in the game and we lost sucker punch goals against PAOK (at home) at the end and could have got a point over there in Frankfurt, and in PAOK we did get a draw," said Robson.

"So if you look at all the performances, that is us going toe to toe with a lot of big teams, with big finance, with big support behind them and we have given them a real go.

"There were a lot of new players that came in - some players have played at this level, some haven’t - but the good thing for us, we have learned a lot playing in European games.

"My experience as a player, as I said to the players, is the more you play in them the better you get and that is what they have done and hopefully we can go and bring it again tomorrow."
