Paul Nixon is continuing his long association with Leicestershire by taking up an ambassadorial role.
The ex-England wicketkeeper retired in August after a 22-year career which included 18 years at Grace Road.
Nixon, 41, will now play a key role off the pitch, working with the commercial team to help increase revenue.
"It's a new role which is exciting for all. We want to make sure everyone who comes here has a great experience," he told BBC Radio Leicester, external.
"I am desperate to help out more on the corporate side.
"The club means a lot to me. I have great friends there and a great affiliation with it."
Nixon scored 12,088 first-class runs in two spells with Leicestershire after making his debut in 1989.
