Essex 163-2 (18.3 overs) beat Gloucestershire 162-6 (20 overs) by eight wickets

Hamish Marshall's 74 was not enough to steer Gloucestershire to victory as Essex won by eight wickets to go top of the T20 Blast South Group.

Gloucestershire started slowly at Chelmsford, losing Alex Gidman early on before England allrounder Ravi Bopara bowled Ian Cockbain.

Marshall's runs came off just 47 balls before he was caught off Tim Phillips as the visitors ended on 162-2.

But Tom Westley (55) and Bopara (66) comfortably powered Essex to 163-2.
