Tavernier made 18 appearances for Gateshead before his recall
Newcastle United have recalled defender James Tavernier from Blue Square Bet Premier side Gateshead.
Tavernier, 19, has been on loan at the International Stadium since January, and made 18 appearances for the Tynesiders in that time.
The Magpies are struggling for defensive cover at reserve-team level with James Perch suspended for three matches.
Gateshead have until 1700 GMT on Friday to add a replacement.
