York City 0-0 Oxford United

A game of few chances saw Oxford United remain in second place in League Two after a scrappy draw at York City.

Josh Carson went close for the hosts, seeing his left-footed volley flash across the face of goal and drift wide.

A David Hunt free kick found Dave Kitson at the far post but York keeper Aaron McCarey reacted to tip the effort over the bar.

Moments later Kitson played in James Constable, who fired straight at McCarey as York held on.

Post-match: York boss Worthington

York City manager Nigel Worthington told BBC Radio York:

"We've done everything I think except finish it off. The appetite for the game was there, the quality was there, they competed very well all over the park. We had chances and we didn't manage to get it in the net.

"But again we're on the right lines. There were so many good things happening there was just a little bit that isn't happening for us at the moment but I just said to them we've got to keep plugging away and were not far away.

"We've had two away games with the top four in the league and we've held them all. It's about keep doing what we're doing and try and finish them off."
