Chris Holroyd is in his second full season with Macclesfield
Macclesfield maintained their unbeaten home record and inflicted a third defeat of the season on leaders Barnet with two second half goals.
Scott Barrow gave Town the lead with a spectacular 35-yard shot - his first goal since joining them in August.
Chris Holroyd doubled the lead when he headed in Waide Fairhurst's pass for his third goal of the season.
John Akinde headed in his eighth goal of the season to give Barnet hope but the Silkmen held on to claim the win.
Akinde had a first half effort ruled out for offside while Paul Turnbull missed a good chance for the hosts in between their two goals.
The defeat cut Barnet's lead at the top to three points following Gateshead's win over Alfreton and Halifax's draw with Wrexham.
