Accrington Stanley 1-2 Dagenham & Redbridge

  • Published

Ade Yusuff came off the bench to score both goals for Dagenham & Redbridge as they beat Accrington Stanley.

Stanley took the lead through West Ham loanee Sean Maguire, who stroked home Kal Naismith's mishit shot following good play by John O'Sullivan.

Dagenham levelled soon after half-time through Yusuff's low drive - his first league goal.

Yusuff slotted home shortly after to inflict a first defeat on John Coleman in his second spell as Stanley boss.

Dagenham and Redbridge boss Wayne Burnett told BBC London 94.9:

"We didn't perform particularly well in the first half, we had one or two chances but they looked the better team.

"We came out in the second half and looked a totally different team. But a bit of luck has gone our way.

Burnett on Dagenham v Accrington

"Yusuff was brilliant, he's still learning but when you've got power and pace you're going to trouble teams. I'm delighted that he got two goals- he's a good kid.

"It was a good all-round team performance, I'm really pleased.

"I changed the team about 12 times in the past 48 hours. We had a game plan but we had to change our shape slightly.

"We came to an Accrington team who are top of the form table. To get three points today is a massive result for us.

"Our home form has been hopeless, even at times when we've played very, very well. But we need consistency in our play and we'll be okay."
