Forest Green Rovers 1-1 Gateshead

  • Published

Forest Green stretched their unbeaten run to four matches as they drew 1-1 with Gateshead at the New Lawn.

Jon Shaw went close for Gateshead before Jon Parkin's drive for Forest Green was well saved in a goalless first half.

Good link-up play between Luke Rodgers and Dale Bennett ended with Parkin sweeping home to give Rovers the lead.

Debutant Callum Howe secured a point for Gateshead, who have now drawn five of their last seven matches 1-1.

Forest Green manager Ady Pennock told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

Pennock on Forest Green v Gateshead

"I think there were two good teams out there, I saw it as a fair result. Don't get me wrong, I'm disappointed with the goal we conceded, but other than that it was good.

"Dale Bennett came on and he was like lightning down there, he was fantastic. It was a good cross for the goal and Jon was there to tap it in.

"We are on a good run but we'll go along quietly. I've been very pleased, the boys have worked very hard over the last month, so they've got a day off on Monday and it's thoroughly deserved."
