Cambridge were unable to maintain their stunning scoring form as Mansfield held their visitors to a goalless draw.
Richard Money's side had scored eight goals in their previous two games but, despite dominating, could not muster one at One Call Stadium.
Michael Nelson, Ryan Donaldson and Kwesi Appiah all went close, with the latter denied twice by home keeper Sascha Studer and once by a post.
Both sides remain ensconced among the pack in League Two.
Paul Cox: Mansfield Town boss after draw with Cambridge.
Mansfield manager Paul Cox told BBC Sport:
"Over the moon with the point, it's been a tough week. The incident with Luke Jones and the build up to the game was hard, but they battled and it's a good point.
"We have injuries but we just have to get on with it, the players are focused and hungry and hopefully this point today was for Luke."
