Welling United 1-3 Chester

  • Published

John Rooney scored twice as Chester claimed their third win in a row against 10-man Welling United.

The home side took the lead through Reece Harris's strike but the Blues were back level when Oliver McBurnie headed home.

Just before the break Jake Gallagher's challenge on McBurnie saw him see red.

Striker Rooney, brother of Manchester United captain Wayne, got his first from the penalty spot after a handball and secured the win with a free-kick.

Chester are now just four points outside of the Conference play-off places, while Welling are six points above the drop.
