Carlisle midfielder David Symington was close to a first-team comeback
Carlisle midfielder David Symington is to have surgery on a knee injury sustained while on loan at Workington, and will miss the rest of the season.
United hoped to have the 21-year-old back in first-team contention after his spell with their non-league neighbours.
But Symington was forced off during his Reds debut last weekend, a 0-0 draw against Halesowen.
He has played 15 times for Carlisle this season, but last appeared in their home defeat by York on 28 December.
