Forest Green Rovers 5-3 Southport

  • Published

Forest Green Rovers made it 10 Conference games unbeaten after coming from behind to beat Southport.

Southport, who missed a penalty, went ahead from David Fitzpatrick's corner but Jon Parkin levelled from the spot.

Aaran Racine and Kurtis Guthrie headed home Marcus Kelly deliveries to put Rovers 3-1 up at half-time.

Kelly's free-kick and Clovis Kamadjo's overhead kick made it 5-1 before Luke Foster and Connor McCarthy netted from close in to restore Southport pride.

Results elsewhere mean the Sandgrounders drop into the bottom four while Rovers stay fifth.

Forest Green manager Ady Pennock told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

Pennock on Forest Green v Southport

"What a fantastic game, five fantastic goals and Clovis's goal was something special - a contender for goal of the season.

"I'll pick the bones out of it on Monday, but the players should be very pleased we've got another three points at home.

"That's seven wins and three draws (in the last 10 games). It's phenomenal and all the players should be given a big pat on the back tonight."
