On-loan Norwich forward Jacob Murphy has netted four goals in 10 league games for Colchester

Colchester United missed the chance to move out of the League One relegation zone as they were held to a draw by play-off hopefuls Swindon.

The U's led after just 37 seconds when Jacob Murphy side-footed in Gavin Massey's low cross from the byeline.

Swindon, who will be fourth, levelled after the break through Ben Gladwin's header from a Yaser Kasim cross.

Colchester are a point adrift of safety and go to promotion-chasing Preston in their final game on Saturday.

However, the third-bottom side may have climbed above relegation rivals Crawley and Notts County had they taken their first-half chances.

Massey and Alex Gilbey both went close, while Chris Porter fired straight at Swindon keeper Wes Foderingham.

In the second half, Colchester keeper Sam Walker denied Massimo Luongo before Porter's late header hit the post as the home side had to settle for a point.
