Preston have a "one-game season" to get promoted from League One, says their manager Simon Grayson.

The Lilywhites will go up to the Championship if they match the result of MK Dons on the final day of the campaign, at Colchester on Sunday.

North End were last in the second tier of English football in 2011.

"We've said for the last three or four games our destiny is in our own hands and we can't affect what happens at other clubs," said Grayson, 45.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It now all boils down to a one-game season next weekend."

Last season, Grayson's side finished fifth and were then knocked out in the play-off semi-finals by Rotherham - the ninth time they have lost in the play-offs.

He has already been promoted out of League One three times in his managerial career, via the play-offs with Blackpool and Huddersfield, and finishing second with Leeds.

"For us to be where we are and what we've done is testament to the players," he added.

"At this stage of the season to be 18 games unbeaten and have given ourselves the opportunity to be promoted next weekend is fantastic, and we're focused and determined to do that."
