Forfar Athletic manager Dick Campbell reckons it would be the club's "greatest" achievement to win promotion to the Championship.

It is 30 years since The Loons were in the second tier of Scottish football and they could clinch the League One title on Saturday.

"What's happening to Forfar is a fairy story," Campbell told BBC Scotland.

"We've no debt, it's a magnificent football club and I'm very proud to be their manager."

The Station Park side sit second in League One on 66 points - the same tally as leaders Morton whose goal difference is better by three.

Third-placed Stranraer, who have 64 points, could also finish first if results go their way.

On the final day of the regular League One season, Morton host Peterhead, Forfar welcome Ayr United and Stranraer visit Brechin.

"I can't wait for it to kick off and get on with it," said Campbell, previously a manager at Dunfermline Athletic and Partick Thistle.

"I won't need to do anything tomorrow because the boys know what's at stake. I'm only focused on one thing and that's winning our game. That's a difficult enough thing without me determining what's going to happen elsewhere.

"We've got the best home record in the whole league and I named my team last night so I'm pretty focused.

"You could say Brechin or Peterhead might leave their overalls in the dressing room because there's nothing to play for, but I don't buy that. Peterhead are capable of beating anybody."

Whatever two teams out of Morton, Forfar and Stranraer miss out on first place will still be assured of a promotion play-off place, the first-legs of which are on Wednesday.

Dick defends Douglas

"The boys on the radio were giving me a bit of stick about being an ageing team. Ask any manager in our league and they would love to have Rab Douglas. He's a magnificent advert. I can't coach what Robert brings to me, he's an international goalkeeper, albeit he's 43-years-old. You want to see him working."

Fourth-place in League One (Brechin) play the ninth-placed Championship side, while it would be second versus third from League One.

"We have achieved our objective this year. Who would ever have believed Forfar would be in the top three with full-time teams in the league.

"Even Ayr United; they are a bigger club than Forfar, but they are not a better club."
