Iain Campbell's late free-kick gave Forfar Athletic a narrow win over Montrose in the Scotish Challenge Cup first round.
In a game of few chances, Chris Templeman came close to breaking the deadlock when his header hit the bar.
Jordan Reoch was penalised for a foul on Swankie and Campbell stepped up to fire home the resulting free-kick.
Templeman then saw his free-kick saved before Forfar keeper Rab Douglas denied Scott Johnston late on.
