Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has scored 38 goals in 237 league games
Shrewsbury Town have re-signed striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro on a one-year contract after club chairman Roland Wycherley helped fund the deal.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has been training with Town since the end of June after his previous deal expired.
The Shrews also hope to finalise new terms with defender Jermaine Grandison.
"We've got to be grateful to the chairman for financing two offers to the lads from his own pocket," boss Mickey Mellon said.
"He wants them in the club, and so do I - they're two very good players," Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire.
Grandison, 24, is mulling over a chance to sign for the Shrews for the fourth time after originally joining on loan from Coventry City in January 2011.
Former Grimsby, Rochdale and Tranmere forward Akpa Akpro has scored nine goals in 51 appearances for Mellon's side.
