Barry Corr's seventh goal in seven games helped Cambridge secure only a second win since August to end Northampton's six-match unbeaten run.

Harrison Dunk put the U's ahead before half-time when he fired low past Adam Smith from outside the penalty area.

Corr then tapped in Greg Taylor's cross to make it 2-0 just after the break.

Marc Richards pulled one back with a penalty after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was fouled but Town's Lawson D'Ath was then sent off for bringing down Dunk.

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder tells BBC Radio Northampton:

Wilder on Northampton v Cambridge

"The squad is disappointed not to have rewarded an unbelievable support.

"We got ourselves back into the game with half an hour to go and I've said to the players that we just got too excited.

"We started rushing our play and the sending off, which I've got no complaints about at all, made it difficult for us."
