Mohamed Salah scored his fifth goal of the season before he was later sent off

Mohamed Salah scored against his former club as Roma moved top of Serie A with victory at previous leaders Fiorentina.

The former Chelsea midfielder, 23, found the bottom corner with a curling effort before Gervinho ran through to double the lead before half-time.

Salah was sent off for a second yellow card with four minutes left before Fiorentina pulled a goal back through Khouma Babacar.

Roma are unbeaten in four games and have a two-point lead at the summit.

Fiorentina complained to Fifa against Chelsea over the Egypt international Salah, who opted not to complete an 18-month loan stay in Florence.

He instead joined Roma on loan for the 2015-16 season, a move which has since been made permanent.

Fiorentina believe Salah should have remained with them for an additional year as part of the terms of the deal that saw Juan Cuadrado sold to Chelsea.
