Adebayo Akinfenwa: FA investigates alleged racist abuse towards Wycombe striker

The Football Association is investigating alleged racist abuse towards Wycombe Wanderers striker Adebayo Akinfenwa during his side's match at Cambridge United on Saturday.

The FA has contacted Akinfenwa and Cambridge for their observations of events during the League Two match.

Cambridgeshire Police previously confirmed its officers are also investigating the alleged incident.

Wycombe won Saturday's game 2-1 through a 95th-minute goal from Aaron Pierre.

Akinfenwa, 34, reported the alleged incident to referee Trevor Kettle, who included it in his report and the clubs are working together to investigate and will take "appropriate action" against those involved.
