Southport are 19th in the National League, just three points above the relegation places
Southport have signed former Chesterfield and Gateshead midfielder Michael Onovwigun.
The 20-year-old began his career at Brentford, playing more than 50 games for the London club's youth team.
He made his Football League debut for Chesterfield in 2014-15 and last season appeared three times in the National League in a loan spell at Gateshead.
Onovwigun goes straight into the Southport squad for Saturday's away game at Aldershot.
