Macclesfield defeated Cheshire rivals Chester thanks to a convincing 2-0 away win.
Against a Chester side containing three former Macc players, Mitch Hancox got the visitors off to a flying start in only the seventh minute, glancing in a header from a Tyrone Marsh cross.
Gime Toure could easily have made it two before the interval, heading over when well placed.
Macclesfield put themselves in the box seat after the break when defender Kieran Kennedy met Elliott Durrell's whipped corner with authority to beat Alex Lynch.
Marsh also headed against the bar as John Askey's men dominated at both ends to stretch Chester's long run without a home win to 15 games (including two defeats to Macclesfield) - stretching back to 17 December.
