AFC Wimbledon 2-0 Doncaster Rovers

AFC Wimbledon scored twice in two second-half minutes to beat Doncaster Rovers and claim their first victory of the season.

Following an uneventful first half, summer signing Kwesi Appiah coolly opened the scoring from 12 yards after brilliantly turning Rovers defender Andy Butler on the edge of the box after 58 minutes.

In the first meeting between the two clubs, striker Andy Barcham doubled the hosts' advantage on the hour as his low shot from 18 yards cannoned in off the post.

Only the crossbar denied Callum Kennedy from adding a third for Dons six minutes from time following his curling free-kick.

Home striker Lyle Taylor had the best chance in an uneventful first half with an effort that was deflected away from goal.

Only George Long's fine save prevented Danny Andrew's dipping 25-yard free-kick from putting the visitors ahead within three minutes of the restart, before Appiah and Barcham found the net.

Rovers, who were unbeaten this season in all competitions prior to kick-off, came closest to pulling a goal back through substitute Liam Mandeville's speculative effort from 18 yards after 66 minutes but the hosts kept their clean sheet in tact.

Blackburn 4-1 MK Dons

Blackburn Rovers brushed aside MK Dons as they continued to climb the League One table.

Goals from Derrick Williams and Charlie Mulgrew put Rovers in charge at half-time, and Mulgrew got his second before Dominic Samuel made the points safe.

Rovers got off to a blinding start when Williams smashed one in from 25 yards after just two minutes.

But Ed Upson dragged the visitors level on 26 minutes when he rifled home after Mulgrew failed to clear his lines.

He made up for his blunder just three minutes later when he rifled home a free-kick to restore Rovers' lead.

Samuel went close with a curling effort which went just wide. But the game was made safe when Mulgrew got his second after he pounced on a Elliott Ward's header on 71 minutes.

And Samuel made it four with seven minutes to go when he converted from a pull back from Harry Chapman.

Blackpool 2-1 Oldham

Blackpool survived a spirited fight-back from League One strugglers Oldham to secure victory at Bloomfield Road and condemn the Latics to a fourth-straight league defeat.

Sean Longstaff gave Blackpool the lead after six minutes with his third goal in three games - a screamer from 25 yards that flew into the top corner.

The hosts extended their lead after 15 minutes. Bright Osayi-Samuel's through-ball cut Oldham's defence apart and Kyle Vassell slid the ball under Ben Wilson.

The game was paused briefly after 18 minutes as one Oldham fan marched onto the pitch and appeared to berate their players before being escorted away by stewards.

Osayi-Samuel could have made it three just after half-time but fired wide from 12 yards.

The visitors vastly improved with second-half substitutes and one of those, Kallum Mantack, should have scored after 64 minutes but dragged his effort well wide.

But John Sheridan's side did give themselves hope after 69 minutes when Darius Osei pounced after a goalmouth scramble and lashed the ball home but it proved to be too little too late.

The Latics do, however, climb off the foot of the table on goal difference after Northampton's heavy defeat to Peterborough.

Bristol Rovers 3-1 Fleetwood

Billy Bodin netted his fifth goal of the season as Bristol Rovers claimed victory over Fleetwood Town at the Memorial Stadium.

The hosts took a 26th-minute lead when Joe Partington's deep cross from the right was headed back across goal by Rory Gaffney for Stuart Sinclair to sidefoot a volley past Alex Cairns.

Sinclair was substituted because of injury six minutes later, but Bodin made it two before the break with a sweetly-struck left-footed drive from 30 yards, the ball striking the inside of a post before crossing the line.

Devante Cole reduced the arrears on the hour, getting on the end of a cross from lively substitute Ashley Hunter to shoot home from close range.

But substitute Ellis Harrison put the result beyond doubt on 79 minutes when meeting another Partington cross to guide the ball past Cairns from six yards.

Fleetwood contributed much to a closely-fought game, but it was Rovers who came up with the finishes to claim maximum points.

Gillingham 3-3 Southend

Tom Eaves bagged a hat-trick to help Gillingham secure a draw at home to Southend.

Eaves netted twice at the start of the second half before scoring his third goal 10 minutes from time to ensure Gills claimed their first point of the League One season.

The Shrimpers took the lead in the 20th minute when Ryan Leonard hooked the ball home after Tomas Holy had dropped a cross from Jermaine McGlashan.

Gills hit back, though, with Eaves heading home Mark Byrne's cross in the 56th minute before he also nodded home a cross from Connor Ogilvie in the 63rd minute to put the home side in front.

Southend equalised just two minutes later with Michael Kightly volleying home before Phil Brown's side regained the lead in the 73rd minute when Simon Cox bundled the ball home after Theo Robinson's shot had hit the bar.

But Robinson then brought Byrne down in the box, enabling Eaves to complete his hat-trick as he fired home after initially having his penalty saved by Mark Oxley.

Northampton 1-4 Peterborough

Peterborough moved to the top of League One after their winning start to the season continued with a convincing victory at struggling rivals Northampton.

Gwion Edwards, Junior Morias, Jack Marriott and Marcus Maddison all scored for Posh, who notched a fourth win from four, while inflicting another defeat on winless Northampton, who are now bottom.

The contest took a while to get going but Peterborough soon assumed control with Leonardo Da Silva Lopes volleying over before Edwards' run and shot from Steven Taylor's pass put them ahead on 32 minutes.

Morias was then off-target for the dominant visitors, but he fixed his radar just before half-time when he collected Edwards' throw-in and shot low into the corner.

Northampton struggled to mount any sort of comeback, and their afternoon got worse when Marriott latched onto a long ball and coolly rolled home on 75 minutes.

Alex Revell headed in Matt Grimes' corner for a consolation, but Peterborough had the final say when Maddison converted from the spot in stoppage time after Aaron Pierre tripped Marriott.

Oxford United 1-1 Shrewsbury

Oxford ended Shrewsbury's 100 per cent run by holding them to a draw at the Kassam Stadum.

Gino van Kessel fired the U's in front on 75 minutes, shooting in off a post after Junior Brown had cleared off the line at a corner.

But the Shrews levelled on 84 minutes when substitute Stefan Payne found space in the box at a similar scramble following a corner that was not properly cleared.

The Shrews showed invention from a free-kick when Shaun Whalley chipped over the wall for Jon Nolan, whose drive was saved low at his near post by Simon Eastwood.

Oxford, second best in the first half, improved when Jon Obika and Joe Rothwell came on after an hour, and the former immediately tested Dean Henderson with a drive that the keeper palmed aside.

Shrewsbury striker Carlton Morris was unlucky as he lobbed over Eastwood, only to see it hit the bar and bounce down on the goal-line, without going over.

Payne then missed a great opportunity to win it for Shrews in stoppage time.

Plymouth 0-4 Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe striker Paddy Madden scored twice as Graham Alexander's side eased to victory at 10-man Plymouth in League One.

Madden followed in his own shot, which had come back off the crossbar, to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute following Josh Morris' pinpoint cross from the left.

He doubled his tally in the 68th minute, diving to head home Duane Holmes' near-post cross, after the substitute made room for himself with a dazzling run down the right.

Tom Hopper made it 3-0 in the 76th minute, diverting Morris' incisive ball down the left with the deftest of touches to convert off the inside of a post from just inside the area.

Morris was rewarded for his part in two of the goals, sweeping home United's fourth goal in the fourth and final minute of stoppage time.

Plymouth were reduced to 10 men in first-half stoppage time when Antoni Sarcevic saw red for an off-the-ball incident.

The home side introduced new on-loan Celtic target man Nadir Ciftci and the debutant was denied when his 15th-minute header was saved on the line by Iron keeper Matt Gilks.

Rochdale 0-0 Bury

Bury held out for a goalless draw with 10 men after having goalkeeper Joe Murphy sent off early in the second half of the derby at Rochdale.

Murphy saw red in the 53rd minute when he collected an innocuous back pass on the edge of his own box - but referee John Brooks, after consulting his linesman, deemed the Shakers' stopper to have handled the ball outside the penalty area.

Bury midfielder Rohan Ince's tame effort in first-half stoppage time was the only shot on target during a dire opening period.

After the break, Rochdale striker Matt Done found himself one on one against Murphy after a poor back pass, but the keeper outwitted his opponent, forcing Done wide and the chance was gone.

Murphy was dismissed minutes later, but replacement keeper Leo Fasan denied Jordan Williams in the 71st minute and Done and Henderson also had shots blocked as the visitors packed their penalty area.

But in a game low on quality and goalmouth incident, Rochdale were unable to make the most of their numerical advantage.

Rotherham 0-2 Charlton

Charlton Athletic scored a goal in each half to secure victory over a wasteful Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

Patrick Bauer headed the visitors in front and the points were secured in controversial fashion by Josh Magennis after Rotherham's Jamie Proctor was felled in the build-up and eventually stretchered off.

Rotherham missed a glaring chance in the opening 10 minutes when Proctor bundled a shot wide from close range after being picked out by Kieffer Moore.

Charlton took advantage of the let-off on 16 minutes when Bauer rose highest to head in Jake Forster-Caskey's corner.

Semi Ajayi should have levelled but his six-yard header from Joe Newell's corner flew wide.

Charlton could have doubled their lead before the break, but Richard O'Donnell turned behind Ricky Holmes' curling effort.

Moore took on a chance himself when Proctor was much better placed as Rotherham made a lively start to the second half.

Charlton secured the win in the 66th minute when Magennis headed in Holmes' dipping cross but Rotherham's fans were furious that referee Trevor Kettle had allowed play to continue with Proctor down.

Walsall 3-3 Bradford City

Walsall produced a stunning fightback to come from three goals down and rescue a point in a thriller against Bradford.

After a scrappy first half-hour, Bradford went ahead after 30 minutes as Alex Gilliead's rampaging run led to Charlie Wyke drilling across the six-yard box for Shay McCartan to tap home.

The Bantams doubled their lead after 38 minutes as Dominic Poleon latched on to Tom Field's cross and swept a scuffed finish into the bottom corner from 10 yards.

It looked game over when Bradford made it 3-0 after 49 minutes, Tony McMahon's deep free-kick turned into his own net by Walsall defender Luke Leahy.

Leahy soon atoned for that, scoring with a bullet header from Nicky Devlin's cross to pull one back after 55 minutes.

The comeback was on when substitute Tyler Roberts - signed on loan from West Brom a day earlier - headed home Leahy's 61st-minute cross from 12 yards, just eight minutes into his debut.

And the fightback was completed three minutes from time as Roberts' teasing cross was bundled home from close range by Amadou Bakayoko to salvage a point for Walsall.

Wigan Athletic 1-1 Portsmouth

Boss Paul Cook saw Wigan Athletic lose their 100 per cent League One record against his former club as Portsmouth came from behind to earn a point.

Both sides finished the game with 10 men after red cards for Chey Dunkley and Gareth Evans.

Gavin Massey provided the perfect through-ball for Ivan Toney to slot home for the hosts with just eight minutes on the clock.

Toney almost found the net again shortly after but Luke McGee in the Pompey goal kept his effort at bay.

Nick Powell then smashed a shot off the bar before McGee denied the former Manchester United man just before half-time as Wigan upped the ante.

The Latics were reduced to 10 men just before the hour mark when defender Dunkley was shown a straight red after he lashed out at Brett Pitman in an off-the-ball incident.

That dismissal came to haunt the hosts on 76 minutes when Conor Chaplin nodded home Kal Naismith's fine cross.

Full-back Evans was sent off for Pompey late on after receiving a second yellow as the points were shared.
