Newport County striker Frank Nouble shoots against Port Vale

Newport County missed their chance to climb into the League Two play-off positions after conceding late at home against lowly Port Vale.

County midfielder Matty Dolan's scored after 54 minutes before sub Anton Forrester's well worked goal with 10 minutes remaining earned the visitors a deserved point.

The two teams chased a winner but had to settle for a point.

Mike Flynn's side remain eighth while Vale move up to 20th.

Newport manager Mike Flynn told BBC Radio Wales: "I'm frustrated, that's two points thrown away.

"We were the better team without being at our best and we've just given them one of the softest goals I've seen.

"It was nice to see him [Dolan] get his first goal but I don't care who scores as long as we win."
