Accrington Stanley 1-1 Newport County

Newport County were pegged back at the death by Accrington Stanley.

The hosts started the day in the automatic promotion spots in League Two, but they could not break down a stubborn Newport rearguard until the final minutes.

Newport goalkeeper Joe Day was in fine form to keep the hosts at bay and striker Frank Nouble put them ahead.

However, Mallik Wilks equalised two minutes before the end to give Stanley a precious point.

Chesterfield 1-0 Exeter City

Kristian Dennis scored his 12th goal of the season to give struggling Chesterfield a 1-0 victory over promotion-chasing Exeter at the Proact Stadium.

Dennis scored from a corner early in the second half and although Chesterfield had defender Scott Wiseman dismissed in the final minute, they deservedly won at home for the first time under manager Jack Lester.

Both teams cancelled each other out for most of the first half although Exeter striker Liam McAlinden flashed a shot across the face of goal in the 38th minute before Dennis had a shot charged down a minute later.

But no-one got to Dennis in the 50th minute when a corner flashed across the goal and he drove a left-footed shot past Christy Pym from eight yards.

McAlinden just failed to turn in a low cross from Dean Moxey in the 68th minute and in the 86th minute his 25-yard shot bounced back off the bar.

But although Wiseman was sent off for a second yellow in the 90th minute, Chesterfield held on for a vital win.

Colchester United 0-0 Morecambe

Colchester and Morecambe played out a lacklustre 0-0 draw in a game of few chances at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

U's substitute Drey Wright came closest to breaking the deadlock late on with a fine dipping long-range strike that crashed against the crossbar.

Colchester made a bright start and Mikael Mandron's downward header was saved by Morecambe keeper Barry Roche, who also held onto Ryan Inniss' volley.

But Steven Old nodded inches wide at the far post for Morecambe midway through the first half after Alex Kenyon's free header from Aaron Wildig's corner had picked him out.

And Colchester keeper Sam Walker pulled off a smart save at his near post to deny Wildig, following Frankie Kent's sloppy back-pass.

Inniss went close again for Colchester early in the second half but both sides struggled to create meaningful opportunities as the clock ticked down.

Colchester's Sammie Szmodics missed his kick in a good position late on after being picked out by substitute Kyel Reid but the spoils were shared.

Forest Green Rovers 3-2 Crewe Alexandra

Alex Iacovitti forced in an injury-time winner as Forest Green beat Crewe 3-2 in a rain-soaked and ill-tempered clash.

The defender was on hand to lash in after a far-post scramble from a corner in the second minute of added time to make the home side's late surge pay.

Rovers had been on the front foot but went behind in the 14th minute as George Cooper's swinging delivery from the right was headed home by Chris Porter from close range.

Forest Green had all of the ball but lacked punch in the final third until Dale Bennett's far-post cross was pushed towards goal by Scott Laird with Christian Doidge on hand to divert over deceived keeper Dave Richards a minute before half-time.

Crewe led for a second time when Cooper's cross was played back across goal by Perry Ng and Jordan Bowery bundled over the line in the 53rd minute.

Forest Green's second-half substitutions seemed to turn the tide and Doidge levelled eight minutes from the end, turning in substitute Dan Wishart's ball back in after Doidge had hit the post.

And the New Lawn erupted when Crewe twice failed to clear and Iacovitti made no mistake with a wild swing of the boot.

Grimsby Town 0-1 Carlisle United

Clint Hill's header proved enough for Carlisle United to pick up a 1-0 win at Grimsby Town.

The former QPR defender struck midway through the second half to give Keith Curle's side all three points at Blundell Park.

Grimsby should have been ahead early on as Scott Vernon forced a good save from Jack Bonham, before Diallang Jaiyesimi somehow managed to hit the crossbar from just a couple of yards away.

Bonham was called into action again just before half-time as he produced a magnificent save to keep out Danny Collins' header, before James McKeown had to react quickly at the other end to prevent Richie Bennett from giving the visitors the lead.

Carlisle went close after the break when Reggie Lambe's cross from the right found Hallam Hope, and the striker's header forced McKeown to tip the ball over.

There was nothing the goalkeeper could do though when Hill met Gary Liddle's cross from the right, and flicked his header in at the near post to give the visitors the victory.

Lincoln City 1-2 Coventry City

Lincoln surrendered a half-time lead as Coventry triumphed after a pulsating League Two encounter at a packed Sincil Bank.

Matt Rhead gave the Imps a deserved lead in the 28th minute when he turned home a pinpoint cross from Sean Long.

Having been second best up to that point, Coventry then improved with Lincoln keeper Josh Vickers making three good saves before half-time.

Vickers made another outstanding stop to deny substitute Duckens Nazon, who made a real impact after coming off the bench five minutes into the second half.

Vickers could do nothing as the Sky Blues levelled in the 61st minute when, following a swift counter-attack, the lively Jodi Jones scored with a superb angled drive.

The Imps almost retook the lead straight away when Matt Green's header crashed off the crossbar.

Coventry took the lead for the first time in the 71st minute through Nazon. Jones was denied by Vickers and then the bar but the ball broke to Nazon, who thundered home a low drive from the edge of the box.

Luton Town 7-0 Cambridge United

Luton midfielder Olly Lee scored a stunner from inside his own half and Danny Hylton netted a hat-trick as the Hatters hammered Cambridge United 7-0.

Town dominated from the word go with visiting keeper David Forde saving well from Hylton and Scott Cuthbert early on.

Forde then denied Elliot Lee, but he was beaten in the 24th minute when Dan Potts netted from close range.

Olly Lee made it 2-0 on the half hour mark, seeing Forde off his own line and superbly beating him from 65 yards, while Hylton found the bottom corner in the 35th minute.

It was 4-0 on the stroke of half time, Elliot Lee firing a magnificent left foot volley into the top corner from Hylton's chip.

After the break, Shinnie hit the post from 20 yards and had an effort cleared off the line by Leon Legge.

In the closing stages Town ran riot, Hylton grabbed his second in the 82nd minute from Jack Stacey's cross, Elliot Lee thumped past Forde from 20 yards in the 88th minuet and Hylton completed his treble from Alan Sheehan's free kick in stoppage time.

Mansfield Town 1-0 Stevenage

A mistake from keeper Joe Fryer gifted Kane Hemmings a goal that proved enough to see off visitors Stevenage and extend Mansfield's unbeaten run to eight games.

Hemmings struck on 24 minutes as Joel Byrom lofted a long free kick into the box which the young keeper failed to grab and the ball ran loose behind him for an easy tap-in.

Mansfield continued to create chances but failed to find a second goal and in added time at the end of the half were relieved to see Chris Whelpdale send a low shot wide of the far post through a crowd of players.

Stags thought they were 2-0 up in the 57th minute when Hemmings again punished Fryer for failing to hold the ball with a close range finish.

The goal seemed to have been given then suddenly was chalked off and a free -kick given to Stevenage.

Stevenage failed to register a shot on target in the entire 90 minutes as home keeper Conrad Logan chalked up an easy second successive clean sheet.

Notts County 3-1 Cheltenham Town

Two goals from top scorer Jorge Grant helped keep Notts County top of League Two as they overcame Cheltenham Town at Meadow Lane.

Grant, on loan from Nottingham Forest, opened the scoring on the half hour mark when he guided the ball into the far corner following good work from Jon Stead.

But the visitors were level just moments later as Carl Winchester steered in a finely-taken equaliser with what was the Robins' first shot on target.

Danny Wright then looped a header onto the bar just after half-time, as Gary Johnson's side chased an unlikely win.

But Grant curtailed those hopes when his 25-yard free-kick took a wicked deflection to wrong foot Scott Flinders for his 13th goal of the season.

Notts then made the game safe when a well-worked corner ended with Richard Duffy flicking towards the back post for Shaun Brisley to head home.

Cheltenham did have a chance to make it 3-2 when Mohamed Eisa connected at the back post, but the striker somehow steered his shot wide.

Port Vale 1-0 Barnet

Striker Tom Pope thundered home a late penalty to hand Port Vale a hard-fought 1-0 win over second-bottom Barnet at Vale Park.

The hosts had enjoyed the better of the chances, but were frustrated by the visitors - in manager Mark McGhee's first game in charge - until Pope stepped up to fire home his ninth goal of the season.

Referee Anthony Blackhouse pointed to the spot in the 79th minute when James Gibbons was brought down, before Pope confidently put away the penalty.

Vale should have been ahead after 11 minutes when David Worrall found Pope unmarked in the box, but James Stephens produced a fine save to keep his shot out.

The home side almost broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Pope's scuffed shot found Anton Forrester, only for the striker to be denied by a point-blank save by Stephens.

Barnet could have been in front just two minutes before the penalty, when Simeon Akinola latched onto a ball over the top but hit his shot straight at Ryan Boot.

It was left to Pope to settle matters and he fired home confidently from the spot.

Wycombe Wanderers 4-0 Crawley Town

Craig Mackail-Smith struck an 11-minute hat-trick as Wycombe got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 thrashing of Crawley.

It was the Chairboys' first win in six games, as they breathed new life into their push for promotion by turning on the style at Adams Park following a goalless first half.

The hosts came within a whisker of the lead as Anthony Stewart headed Joe Jacobson's free-kick into the ground, with the ball bouncing off the bar.

A moment of brilliance led to Wycombe going ahead five minutes into the second half, as Eberechi Eze surged into the area, going past three defenders, before finishing calmly.

Their lead was doubled when Adebayo Akinfenwa found Mackail-Smith in space on the right and the former Scotland striker bent a first-time shot into the top corner.

Mackail-Smith then struck twice in two minutes to complete his hat-trick, first with a brilliant finish off the underside of the bar from outside the box then after being put in the clear by Akinfenwa again.

Yeovil Town 1-2 Swindon Town

Swindon Town came from behind at Yeovil Town in League Two to win 2-1 through goals from substitute Kellan Gordon and Keshi Anderson after Rhys Browne gave the hosts an early lead.

The Glovers started strongly and Browne put them ahead after just four minutes when he burst in from the right flank and sent in a low delivery which was deflected into the back of the net.

David Flitcroft adjusted his tactics and after that it was all Swindon as Artur Krysiak twice denied Timi Elsnik with superb saves, tipping the first over the bar and then clawing a looping header out of the top corner.

It was more of the same after the break and a quick counter in the 67th minute ended with Harry Smith forcing another good stop from Krysiak but Gordon reacted quickest to turn in the rebound.

Then in the 89th minute Kaiyne Woolery found Anderson in the box and he tapped in the winner.
