Bohs remain within touching distance of rivals and league leaders Shamrock Rovers
Danny Mandroiu and Dinny Corcoran scored second half goals as Bohemians got the better of Derry City at the Brandywell.
The off-colour hosts failed to find the intensity that has become a feature of their play since the return of manager Declan Devine.
Derry remain in fourth but are now six points behind Bohs in third.
Next up for the Candystripes is a trip to the home of reigning champions Dundalk on Friday.
Devine's side looked jaded during what was their third game in eight days with the Derry boss making just one change to his starting line-up from Friday's win over Cork, while Bohs brought eight players back into their side.
After a tense first half in which Eoghan Stokes came closest from a long range effort, the visitors moved their performance levels up a gear and began the second period on the front foot.
Mandroiu linked up with Corcoran before smartly sweeping his finish over Peter Cherrie to put the Dubliners ahead before Daniel Grant saw his effort come crashing off the woodwork.
Derry did offer a response and came closest through Greg Sloggett, although the midfielder could not direct his header from Jamie McDonagh's cross on target.
Bohemians doubled their lead with 11 minutes remaining when Corcoran intercepted Sloggett's underhit back-pass and rounded Cherrie before slotting home.
The striker, who already has seven goals this campaign, went close to making it three in injury time when he deflected Keith Ward's effort towards goal, but it came back off the upright.
