Wrexham 1-0 FC Halifax Town

Ten-man Wrexham inflicted a first defeat of the season on Halifax Town to knock them off the top of the table.

Dragons defender Jake Lawlor, born in Halifax, was shown a straight red for bringing down Tobi Sho-Silva as he attacked the Wrexham goal.

With the man advantage, Halifax piled the pressure on the home side.

But 12 minutes from time Paul Rutherford picked out Mark Harris with a piercing through ball and the striker held his nerve to convert the chance.

Wrexham manage Bryan Hughes told BBC Sport Wales:

"It's been difficult, it's been a big test for the players physically. Going down to 10 men at Dover (in a 2-1 loss on Saturday), a long trip back, going down to 10 men again tonight against the league leaders.

"But really showing the character that I've got in that group, they've got it in abundance to really show people what they're made of.

"They all dug in for each other and still posed a threat going forward, which was really pleasing."
