Bristol Rovers 1-0 Barrow

Antony Evans fired a spectacular long-range winner as Bristol Rovers maintained their rise towards the League Two play-off zone with a 1-0 home win over 10-man Barrow.

The visitors were up against it from the 32nd minute when Leon Clarke was pulled down from behind when clear on goal by last man Niall Canavan, who was shown a straight red card.

James Belshaw had made an early save from Oliver Banks' volley but Barrow's Paul Farman was busier, keeping out efforts from Harry Anderson and Evans.

Anderson also went close with a 25-yard shot on 19 minutes which flew inches wide.

Clarke fired over in the second half while Farman saved well from substitute Aaron Collins.

Rovers struggled to make their advantage count against some tenacious defending until midfielder Evans unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards on 82 minutes.

Spirited Barrow had chances to equalise late on, Josh Gordon and Banks having shots saved by Belshaw and Matthew Platt striking a post.

Carlisle 2-0 Rochdale

Resurgent Carlisle secured a second-successive win as they pulled themselves three points clear of the League Two relegation places with a 2-0 victory at home to Rochdale.

Omari Patrick, who scored the only goal in Paul Simpson's first game back in charge of the club on Saturday, opened the scoring.

And Tobi Sho-Silva secured the manager a welcome return to Brunton Park with his late second.

It was the first time since New Year's Day that the Cumbrians have won back-to-back league games.

Krystian Dennis squandered an early chance as he headed the ball wide of the mark.

Down the other end, Mark Howard did well to tip Alex Newby's effort over the crossbar.

Jay Lynch made a mistake as he spilled Jamie Devitt's free-kick as Patrick pounced to power home the opener after 25 minutes.

Before the break, Patrick saw an effort hit the outside of the post as Carlisle pressed for a second goal.

Sho-Silva kept his calm as he rounded Lynch to slot home his second goal since joining the club at the death to seal maximum points.

Colchester 2-2 Leyton Orient

A stoppage-time equaliser from Ethan Coleman rescued Leyton Orient a point in a 2-2 draw with fellow strugglers Colchester.

Ruel Sotiriou put Orient ahead but Myles Kenlock and Owura Edwards responded befoe Coleman's late intervention.

Orient had a strong penalty appeal turned down when Sotiriou tumbled under Shamal George's challenge in the area but was booked for simulation.

Sotiriou then went close but the hosts almost went ahead five minutes after the break when Os keeper Lawrence Vigouroux denied Freddie Sears.

Orient broke the deadlock in the 66th minute through Sotiriou, who cracked home a ferocious shot from the edge of the area after Coleman had pounced on George's poor clearance.

But Colchester levelled in the 75th minute when Kenlock stooped to head in Alan Judge's corner from close range.

And four minutes later, Edwards prodded home substitute John Akinde's header down from Judge's free-kick to give the Us the lead.

But Coleman responded in the third minute of stoppage time after a free-kick had not been cleared.

Crawley 2-2 Oldham

Christopher Missilou's second-half equaliser clinched Oldham a vital point in their fight against relegation from League Two in a battling 2-2 draw at Crawley.

After Hallam Hope's opener for the Latics, two goals in three minutes from Ashley Nadesan put Crawley on course for victory before Frenchman Missilou struck with 20 minutes remaining to make it seven games unbeaten under boss John Sheridan.

Crawley head coach John Yems went into the game with Lewis Young as his new assistant following Lee Bradbury's departure to take the managerial role at National League side Eastleigh.

On-loan midfielder Isaac Hutchinson had the ball in the net early on for Reds only for it to be ruled offside before Oldham - with only three away wins in the league this season - went close.

A free-kick by Nicky Adams was only half cleared and Missilou fired the rebound over from a good position.

Hutchinson saw a long-range shot deflect onto the crossbar and Tom Nichols had a close-range header saved by goalkeeper Danny Rogers before Oldham top-scorer Davis Keillor-Dunn sent a deflected shot wide at the other end.

Jack Powell saw a deflected shot go wide of the post for Crawley before striker Hope fired Oldham ahead with his fourth of the season into the top corner after 56 minutes.

But Crawley hit back in style with Nadesan scoring twice in three minutes around the hour mark with well-placed shots to take his season's tally to seven.

Nadesan first beat goalkeeper Rogers following a long throughball and later slotted home after being set up by Hutchinson.

Oldham drew level after 70 minutes when good work by Hope set up Missilou and he fired the ball home with a shot off the post.

The game ended controversially with Yems being shown two cards by referee Alan Young and being sent to the stands for the second time in three matches.

Harrogate 1-1 Port Vale

On-loan Leeds striker Ryan Edmondson scored his second goal in as many matches to extend Port Vale's unbeaten run to a ninth game following a 1-1 draw at Harrogate.

Midfielder Alex Pattison had earlier become the fourth Harrogate player this season to hit double figures in front of goal, giving Simon Weaver's men a half-time lead.

Vale could have been the first to draw blood but midfielder Ben Garrity missed the target with two free headers before the quarter-hour mark, brushing the top of the netting from a Chris Hussey corner and then directing James Gibbons' free-kick wide.

Instead, Harrogate forged in front midway through the half with an excellent team goal as Jack Muldoon exchanged passes with Jack Diamond before teeing up Pattison, who calmly rolled the ball past Tomas Holy from 10 yards.

But the visitors levelled at the second half's midway point when Harrogate-born Edmondson, just two minutes after seeing a header disallowed for a push, climbed highest in the home box to nod Gibbons' left-wing cross past Mark Oxley.

The visitors might even have grabbed maximum points in the fourth minute of stoppage time but James Wilson's thumping 20-yard drive clipped the crossbar.

Newport County 1-1 Forest Green

Jack Aitchison's second-half equaliser earned League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers a point at Newport County.

Finn Azaz put the hosts ahead after just three minutes, finishing Rob Street's low cross past Luke McGee.

Azaz almost scored his second when through one-on-one but McGee denied him to keep Newport's lead down to one.

Aitchinson drew Rovers level after 55 minutes, firing home from a tight angle, before Newport defender James Clarke was sent off late on.

Forest Green remain top with a point, while Newport move up two places to sixth.

Northampton 1-1 Walsall

Promotion-chasing Northampton were held to a 1-1 draw by Michael Flynn's resurgent Walsall at Sixfields.

After Mitch Pinnock struck the opener, Conor Wilkinson equalised to leave the Cobblers second in League Two.

Northampton were gifted the opening goal just four minutes in when Carl Rushworth scuffed his clearance straight to Pinnock and he held off the defender to slam into the bottom corner.

Wilkinson nodded wide and Liam Roberts needed strong fists to beat away Joss Labadie's fierce drive as Walsall sought a swift reply.

But Northampton also had chances to go further in front before half-time with Louis Appere flicking just wide and Pinnock shooting tamely into the gloves of Rushworth when well-placed.

Wilkinson made the home side pay for their wasteful finishing by slamming home the equaliser from George Miller's lay-off five minutes into the second half.

The momentum was now with the away side and Wilkinson side-footed a good chance wide and Miller had a free header but could not convert.

Northampton were poor in the second half but should have snatched victory in stoppage time, Sam Hoskins heading against the post from close range.
