Paul Hughes secured a sensational first-round knockout victory over Jan Quaeyhaegens at Cage Warriors 161 at the RDS in Dublin
The county Derry man, 26, secured victory with a left hook after two minutes and 47 seconds of the bout.
The Cage Warriors featherweight champion had moved up to lightweight to face Belgian Quaeyhaegens.
Hughes' victory in the non-title fight took his professional record to 10 wins and one defeat.
The win makes the Northern Irishman the number one contender to George Hardwick's lightweight title but the Fight Academy Ireland fighter will next be hoping to make the step to the UFC having had his dream of fighting in MMA's premier organisation prevented by injury and visa issues.
Earlier on the card, Hughes' Fight Academy Ireland team-mate Paddy McCrory defeated Frenchman Samir Kadi with a third-round guillotine submission, taking the Belfast fighter's professional record to 4-1.
