Northern Ireland's Dan Harper produced a superb comeback drive to take the British GT title at Donington Park alongside team-mate Darren Leung.

After Leung's lead was wiped out by a safety car just before the driver change at the pit stop, Harper was left with it all to do to overcome championship leader James Cottingham.

However, Harper overtook 11 cars to win the title for Century Motorsport.

"I don't even know what to say," said BMW factory driver Harper, 22.

Leung, starting second, produced a brilliant drive to pull away in the lead before his advantage was wiped out by the safety just before Harper took the wheel.

Harper exited the pits in 13th, with any chance of the title looking slim, but he produced a stirring performance to move into the fifth place needed to beat Cottingham to the title, and he carried on to take three more positions to finish second on the road.

"I had a small feeling inside that it was still possible," Harper added.

"When you see a 16 second lead go with nine minutes to go before the pit stop, I was like 'oh no'.

"I just kept getting as many [cars] as I could, I knew depending on the situation I needed to get as many as possible.

"I can't believe it, I'm so happy."

In the GB3 Championship at Donington, there was disappointment for Ireland's Alex Dunne who had to settle for second place in the standings.

Going into the decider 17 points down on Callum Voisin, Dunne won Sunday's opening race and finished ahead of Voisin in the final race, but the English driver was able to take the title despite a battling performance by Dunne.
