Rugby union's first six-point try has been scored by Pontypridd's Alex Webber in a Welsh Premiership match.

Wales' second-tier rugby clubs are playing under an experimental scoring system that awards six points for a try and two points for all kicks.

Wing Webber went over early in Ponty's their 68-32 win at Llanelli on Saturday.

Webber added a second in the nine-tries-to-four triumph at Parc y Scarlets.

The 23-year-old, Rhondda-bred player has been capped by Wales Sevens and played Celtic Crusaders rugby league club.

World Rugby, the sport's governing body, sanctioned the points-scoring trial, which is understood to part of an ongoing review of the game's laws.

Currently, a try is worth five points, with a conversion two points. Penalties and drop-goals are both worth three points.
