Cuddle time

Cuddles with your baby are precious for you - but they're also vital for baby's bond too.

Cuddles with your baby are a lovely way to help them feel safe, secure and loved. These close moments help strengthen the bond between you and your baby.

Cuddling encourages the release of oxytocin, sometimes known as the "love hormone". This can help both of you feel calm, comforted and connected.

Cuddle time is also a great chance to chat, sing or simply enjoy being together. Hearing your voice and feeling close to you helps your baby feel reassured as they explore the world around them.

Remember to be gentle when handling your newborn and to always support their head and neck.
