It's amazing what you find when you have a good old clear out, and this is certainly the case in Aylesbury.
A improvised pistol, thought to be from World War Two, was found in a house after being hidden away for about 70 years.
It's now been handed into the police to make safe.

We've just had a brief weekend forecast, but this afternoon Cambridgeshire County Council tweeted that it was keeping the gritters back at base tonight - so hopefully no need for the de-icer tomorrow.
It could soar to a sweltering minimum of 3C (37F) later in the county.

Kettering Borough Council told me free parking was introduced on certain days in December because the festive period was an "important time of year for both families and businesses".

Lesley Thurland, cabinet member for finance on the ruling Conservatives, said it wants to "encourage people to support our local businesses and the town centre and believe offering seasonal parking concessions made this easier".
The council said parking charges in the town will be reviewed next year, external, while the Labour opposition has branded the charges "extortionate", external.

Meanwhile, Richard Boreham, from Kettering Sewing Studio, told me the difference that free festive parking made in the run-up to Christmas was "minuscule".

He said the cost of parking in Kettering is the "biggest gripe" of customers, but that removing parking charges was not necessarily the answer.
Mr Boreham said the borough council needed to "work with traders" to make the town "more friendly and improve customer service".
He also told me it was a "big challenge to change the behaviour" of people who are used to shopping elsewhere.

The Yards in Kettering, which houses about 50 independent retailers, told me the free parking offered in the run-up to Christmas did help bring people to the town.
Michaela Jones, the site's marketing manager, said she felt larger retailers benefited more, with The Yards' offering being "quite unique and a destination for people", but it had received positive comments on the free parking on its Facebook page.

She also said the one-off Christmas market, which it was involved in, was also positive for Kettering, adding it was looking to "collaborate" with the borough council on some future events.

We've been finding out how much difference Kettering Borough Council's offer of free parking in the town centre on three Saturdays and Thursdays after 15:00 made in the run-up to Christmas.

The council has drawn criticism for its parking charges, external, which are to be reviewed next year.
Kettering's council-run car parks cost £1 an hour or £6 for more than three hours, with parking free on Sunday.
In comparison, Northampton offers two hours free on weekdays and free parking on weekends, while Wellingborough offers free parking in council car parks.
So does having free parking in Kettering make any difference?

Cambridge United are looking for their sixth successive win as they head to Leyton Orient on New Year's Eve.
Speaking to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire about the club's winning run, manager Shaun Derry said: "We're adapting to being a Football League club again after a number of years in the Conference. I feel we're progressing."
A late goal away to Stevenage on Boxing Day kept them in the League Two play-off places.

The A421 at V6 Grafton Street in Redmoor, Milton Keynes, is still closed northbound between the Redmoor roundabout and Bleak Hall roundabout.
It's because of a chemical spillage from a lorry, which damaged the road surface just over a week ago.
A Milton Keynes Council spokesman said the asphalt will need to be removed to make sure there's no chemical residue left, but there's no date for the repair work yet.
Image source, GoogleHe added: "When chemicals are spilt we need to take extra checks before doing any work, as our repair techniques require high temperature bitumen to be applied."

"We have to beat Coventry, it's tight at the top," says Posh boss Grant McCann, as the League One sides prepare to meet on New Year's Eve.
A 1-1 draw away to Gillingham on Boxing Day secured a return to the top six for Posh, after they were leapfrogged by Southend following their victory over AFC Wimbledon earlier in the day.
Image source, Getty ImagesThe Peterborough United manager told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, external: "The teams at the top keep winning... you have to win your home games. Coventry is a must for us now.
"Only three or four points separate us from teams in 10th and 11th. We need to start building a bit of a gap."

We had hoped to bring you a happy conclusion, but with darkness falling Lawrence the rhea is still on the loose near Newton in south Cambs, having thwarted efforts by owner Ashley Bullard to recapture the bird.
A short while ago Ashley told me that he and and the vet assisting him were unable to get near enough to the giant bird to tranquillise it.
He says he's exhausted and worried they will lose it in the darkness.
We'll keep our fingers crossed that Lawrence will be caught safe and sound over the weekend.

The foggy conditions are affecting departures and arrivals at Luton airport this afternoon.

This is a photo of the pet rhea with Ashley Bullard's friend Max Robinson a few months back.
Lawrence, who was originally thought to be a male but turned out to be female, was hand-reared from an egg by the self-proclaimed pet fanatic and lived in the back garden at Norton Subcourse, near Reedham in Norfolk.
It's thought the bird escaped through a hole in the fence in August and hasn't been seen since - until this Christmas, 80 miles away in Cambridgeshire.
Image source, Max RobinsonSpeaking at the time of Lawrence's disappearance, Mr Bullard said: "He weighs around 20 to 30kg, so quite a big bird... you'd think you'd see him quite easily but he's quite timid, so he will hunker down into a grey heap of feathers so you can easily mistake him for a lump of mud."
Rheas are grey, flightless birds with long necks and long legs. Originating from south America, they can be up to 1.7cm (67in) tall and run at speeds up to 40mph (64km/h).
The RSPCA says the animals are not listed as dangerous but people should not approach them.

Saints players were given four days off over Christmas after beating Sale last Friday night, but are back preparing for Sunday's fixture at Gloucester.
The south west side are eighth in the table, but level on points with Saints who are seventh. Captain Tom Wood says "that shows what a competitive league it is".
Image source, Getty ImagesWood told me it's "so hard to find consistency, a couple of occasions we've played really well and come away with nothing".
The 30-year-old said it was "all about fine margins" and the Saints "will be aiming to get it right" on New Year's Day.
