Coventry Bees manager Gary Havelock blamed injuries as his side’s Elite League title hopes ended with their heaviest defeat of the season in last night’s play-off semi-final second leg at Poole.
Image source, EmpicsAfter drawing 45-45 in last week’s first leg at Brandon, Coventry’s depleted side, missing both Joonas Kylmakorpi and Jason Garrity, were beaten 58-31.
With captain Chris Harris and Chris Holder both suffering mechanical problems, Coventry won just four of the 15 races on the night, to lose by a 27-point margin.
“You can’t account for injuries in speedway,” said Havelock. “If we’d had our full team for both legs it would have been a far different story. I’ve said to the lads that they need to remember this pain, because they can use it as a motivational force for next year."
