A West Yorkshire MP has "hit the roof" to highlight the need for repairs at a dilapidated school in Calderdale which has missed out on the latest round of government funding.

    MP on school roof

Todmorden High school found out yesterday that it wasn't on the list of 19 schools in Yorkshire to get government funding for repairs as part of a national programme giving priority to urgent cases.

Conservative MP for the Calder Valley, Craig Whittaker, has held a news conference from the roof of the school. He denies it's a pre-election stunt and says he'll be "hammering home" to the Prime Minister that Todmorden High should be prioritised.
