It's illegal to cycle on a public road after dark, unless you have bike lights on.
Now, Rebecca Roe, whose son Charlie died after colliding with a van in October, has launched a petition to make it illegal to sell bikes without pre-fitted lights.
She says: "I don't want Charlie to have lost his life for no reason.
"I've started the petition to try to prevent someone else having to go through what we're going through - to try to make something positive come out of losing Charlie."
Police in Leeds have confirmed they're investigating the theft of a van belonging to a Thin Lizzy tribute band.

The group had originally feared it would have to cancel a number of planned gigs.
However, they've now been loaned equipment by fellow musicians to ensure they can still perform their booked shows.

Fires and barbecues have been banned on open public spaces in parts of West Yorkshire after a blaze swept over a huge swathe of moorland at the weekend.

It spread west to Saddleworth, Greater Manchester and at its height covered about six sq miles.
The Public Space Protection Order ban will be in force across the summer and currently lasts until 31 October.
The ban covers the Kirklees Council area, which includes Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley and Holmfirth.
Anyone found lighting a fire or barbecue on council, National Trust or Yorkshire Water-owned land faces a fine of up to £150.
With just under a week to go until the Tour de Yorkshire, tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire has defended the economic effect the race has on local businesses.

Each council has paid at least £100,000 to host this year's event and some businesses have questioned the financial benefits it's supposed to create for them.
One fish and chip shop in North Yorkshire, North Street Fisheries in Ripon (pictured), is closing for the day as its owners say they have lost money on "every event" as customers can't get to them.
Meanwhile, on the North York Moors, Fiona Gardham, who runs a B&B in Goathland, has told the BBC it would be full anyway because it's a bank holiday weekend, so the business sees no benefit.
Welcome to Yorkshire says last year's event benefited the region by £98m.
