    • Black cab drivers face a number of challenges including changes to emissions regulation and competition from cashless services such as Uber.
    • The disturbance at City Hall today started after Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon asked the mayor if he recognised that until there are enough zero-emission capable taxis on the market and enough rapid charging points it would be difficult for the taxi trade to switch to comply with new regulation.
    • He replied: "If you take into consideration the £65m that we have secured to help fund the transformation to cleaner vehicles, black cab drivers will be able to make the switch. I appreciate there is anxiety about this and it's a big change to make but I believe it's one profoundly in the interest of the black cab trade."
    • She said there were only 1,400 charging points when 25,000 were planned to which cab drivers in the audience laughed and cheered.
    • He then said: "I just say to all the Luddites in the room who don't want to see new technology. This will be something.."
    • He broke off as protesters called "That's disgraceful" and started shouting at which point the meeting was adjourned.
