Scientists at Loughborough University have received government backing for research that could significantly cut carbon emissions from industry.
They've created a device which converts carbon dioxide into renewable fuel for transport.

Dr Jin Xuan said: "We turn carbon dioxide into fuel which can run your car, power an aeroplane.
"We also convert carbon dioxide into chemicals that make up drugs and other pharmaceutical products."
The prototype is more efficient than any other around and it's being tested to one day be used in factories and power plants creating tonnes of renewable fuel for transport, the university claimed.
The government is backing the research with part of a £200,000 grant. It's hoped the little device could one day make a huge difference.
The 150th osprey chick has hatched at Rutland Water.
The project marked the milestone late last night, almost 25 years since the bird of prey was reintroduced. The fish eaters were driven to extinction in England more than 150 years ago.
Image source, Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife TrustThe Rutland Osprey Project translocated young birds from Scotland between 1996 and 2001 and now eight breeding pairs have established in the county.
The birds migrate to east Africa during the winter, returning to Rutland Water to breed during spring and summer.
Marie Dipple, from Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust said: "It's fantastic that we now have so many ospreys back from migration and breeding at Rutland Water Nature Reserve. Some of our Rutland ospreys are spreading to other parts of the UK too, helping the UK osprey population to grow."
