Rangers manager Ally McCoist is looking for about £400,000 if he is to leave immediately, rather than work his 12-month notice period. McCoist will meet the Rangers board on Wednesday, with Rangers seeking an "amicable solution". But with the Ibrox outfit still in dire financial straits, finding such a sum may be difficult.

Fire crews rescued a dog which fell through ice while chasing a duck across a frozen pond in Arbroath.

John from Kirkcaldy: There is more to Ally McCoist's actions than meets the eye. The man has simply had enough and it may be the case that he is having to make a stand. Nobody would have put up with this situation and, whilst results on the pitch are poor, Rangers fans must never forget he kept our club together. Despite this media obsession with his salary he did previously work for nothing, unlike others who have bled the club dry.
