VIDEO: Tenants of private rented properties are being charged illegal fees by some property letting agents despite a change in the law banning the practicepublished at 13:53 BST 5 August 2015
The Scottish government changed the law in 2012 to make rent and a refundable deposit the only legal fees.
One tenant told the BBC she paid fees for a reference check costing £55 and another check for the guarantor which was another £55, on top of the deposit and rent.
